Abstract

This study aimed to identify and compare the presence of Aedes aegypti larvae in water-holding containers at Cemetery X 1 and X 2, Marendal II Village, Patumbak District. This study used a descriptive observational design with a comparative approach and a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 31 water-holding containers, namely 13 containers at Cemetery X 1 and 18 containers at Cemetery X 2. A total of 18 containers were selected as samples using purposive sampling based on the criteria that the containers contained water, were accessible, and had the potential to become mosquito breeding habitats. Data were collected through direct observation using a checklist and analyzed descriptively using the Container Index (CI). The results showed that at Cemetery X 1, 5 of 8 containers were positive for larvae, with a CI of 62.5%, while at Cemetery X 2, 8 of 10 containers were positive for larvae, with a CI of 80%. In addition, flower vases, aromatic-burning containers, used buckets, plastic containers, plant pots, used cans, and depressions or ponds at graves that could collect rainwater were found. Cemetery X 2 had a higher presence of larvae than Cemetery X 1.
