Abstract

Diabetes mellitus remains one of the most significant non-communicable diseases globally, requiring early detection and preventive community-based interventions. This community service program aimed to strengthen public awareness and improve early identification of diabetes risk through structured activities, including blood glucose screening, Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement, counseling on healthy lifestyles, and individualized health guidance. The program employed a participatory empowerment approach, beginning with preliminary assessments, community engagement, group facilitation, and educational sessions followed by evaluation. A total of 30 participants took part in the screening activities. Findings showed that 66.67% of participants were aged ?55 years, and 80.00% were female. Based on nutritional status, 43.33% were classified as obese and 26.67% as overweight. Blood pressure screening revealed that 36.67% had hypertension, while blood glucose examination showed elevated levels in 40.00% of participants. These results indicate a substantial proportion of the community possessing modifiable risk factors for diabetes and other non-communicable diseases. Educational sessions demonstrated increased participant understanding of diet regulation, physical activity, and routine screening, as reflected in active engagement and positive feedback. The program concluded that structured community empowerment activities effectively improve early detection and awareness of diabetes risk factors. Strengthening routine screening programs and promoting sustainable health education are essential to reducing the incidence of non-communicable diseases at the community level
